What most people choose to forget, is that NOTHING in this world of value was created from status quo. Without entrepreneurship, we wouldn't have Google, Apple, Body Shop, Ben & Jerry's, Patagonia etc. And without entrepreneurship, there would be no United States. Instead, the US would still be a part of the UK. It took a lot of courage, where execution was a quite likely outcome, but also a lot of original thinking of the founders of America, to create the US as we know it today. The founders had to be able to envision something that yet didn't exist. And we wouldn't have, for example, Buddhism, if Buddha hadn't been dissatisfied with the life he lived and found a new way, which eventually led him to a teach his insights. We wouldn't have art, music or any creative expression either. The list is endless, yet it all leads to the same place:
If you want to be an entrepreneur, you'll need to
1. Embrace the delusional, and the faith-based parts of yourself, despite your fears and other people's disbeliefs. Your job is to see what other people can't, and even if you falter, keep holding on.
2. Take action steps that will bridge the gap between the unreal and the real.
3. Get other people to believe in your ideas. This is true whether you are running a business, a non-profit, a political campaign, promoting your music or want to create a spiritual movement.
And if we want to change the course of the planet, we will need a movement of delusional dreamers with enough faith and staying power, who are willing to take the necessary action steps, AND who can rally enough support for their dreams!
