Inspirational Movies

  • : Billy Elliot

    Billy Elliot
Pure inspiration about following your dreams!

  • : The Matrix

    The Matrix
This is a truly metaphysical movie. If anyone has dabbled in energy, you know what Neo is doing at the end. Groovy! Love the segment with the blue pill or the red pill, but it's also very violent, and hard for me to watch in its totality today.

  • : The Lord Of The Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy (Widescreen Edition)

The Lord Of The Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy (Widescreen Edition)
The first time I finished the Lord of the Rings, the first full-length book I read in English, I was 11 and I cried, because I didn't want it to end. The movie is a true masterpiece, even though the violence is a bit hard for me to to stomach today.

  • : A Little Princess

    A Little Princess
A complete movie, about a girl who never stops believing she's a princess, despite going from riches to rags, teaching all women that we are princesses too. Beautiful photo, beautiful acting. Just a pure joy to watch.

  • : Mamma Mia! The Movie (Widescreen)

    Mamma Mia! The Movie (Widescreen)
A bit cheesy, but there are some fabulous highlights with the singing of some of the Abba-songs! Being from Sweden, I guess I join the 1/8 of the Swedish population that has seen the movie more than once. What can I say?;-).

  • : Slumdog Millionaire

    Slumdog Millionaire
Deserved all the Oscars it got! A true celebration to what you can accomplish with a STRONG desire, and a pure heart.

  • : Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (Widescreen & Full Screen Edition)

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (Widescreen & Full Screen Edition)
Fun, great acting, and again, I'm a sucker for movies set in the 20's. About saying yes to life. A bit corny at the end, but still a fun, and inspiring celebration.

  • : Chicago (Widescreen Edition)

    Chicago (Widescreen Edition)
Nope, this is not one of my usual 'let's create a better world-movies', since it hails a corrupt Chicago in the 20s, but it's FUN, and the singing and dancing is just marvelous!

  • : Legally Blonde

    Legally Blonde
Legally Blonde, both movies, are on one level excruciatingly stereotypical, the type of woman I never wanted to be. On another level, this is exactly the message that we need to hear, and that I needed to learn. There's such a pure joyful power of claiming your 'feminine' self. No, it doesn't have to come with a Gucci bag, but I love that it comes with sisterhood, pink;-), and doing it in a 'feminine' way, NEVER apologizing for being a woman!

  • : August Rush

    August Rush
This is my favorite movie right now. It's about a boy who decides to follow the music, never doubting that he will find what he's looking for. I love the optimism of the movie, and I love the music in it, as well as the understanding that music changes our lives.

  • : Wall-E (Widescreen Single-Disc Edition)

    Wall-E (Widescreen Single-Disc Edition)
An incredible love story as well as a chilling reminder of what we are doing to this planet, without finger-pointing.

Inspirational People

  • Tim Ferriss
I recently read the "Four How Work Week", the book on Life Design by Tim Ferriss, and I really dig his take-no-prisoners approach to life. What if all business owners decided to explore other facets of life with the same intensity as they pursue their business?
  • Patricia Leat
There are those who can 'see', and those who can heal. Patti can do both, and she's just an incredible person, whom I respect highly, and am very grateful to be working with.
  • Saul David Raye
Saul is one of my yoga teachers, and one of the few teachers out there who is able to hold the space for a huge room of practitioners, and allow them to flourish in their practice and inner growth. Am very grateful for his presence in my life.
  • Nicholas Kristof
Nicholas Kristof has become a voice for girls and women in developing countries, asking us to not look away. He's a hero in all senses and a journalist who's become synonymous with our conscience and the need for progress.
  • Mama Gena
Mama Gena is about empowering women through discovering their inner Goddess, or their Creative Courtesan, if you like. A contrast to many spiritual leaders, she hails desire as the most important driving force that should be honored. I believe there's more to life than only desire, but what's the point of living if we can't suck the marrow out of life - with a sprinkle of glitter?
  • Andrew Sulllivan
I really dig Andrew because of his authenticity, his mental acuity, and for his crusade for accountability in politics. We differ in opinion on several important matters, but I applaud him for his reliability and his never-ending search for truth.
  • Oprah
One of my biggest role models is Oprah, who not only is one of the most influential people in the world, reaching 30 million viewers globally on a weekly basis. She's also one of the word's richest women, with a worth of $2,7Billion in Sept 08 (Forbes), making her a formidable entrepreneur! Oprah has done more for women, and women's causes than any other person that I'm aware of, and her leadership is awe-inspiring! We need more women like Oprah!
  • Mukhtar Mai
I just came across this incredible woman leader who's created Mukthar Mai Women's Welfare Organization in in the Punjab region in Pakistan. (see my blog post). She helps women who otherwise would be killed in so called Honor Killings. She's also created a school for girls, a woman's shelter, an ambulance service. Mukhtar Mai is incredible brave, and a true leader!
  • Muhammad Yunus
Muhammad Yunus is another one of my heroes, who I've been following for many years. His belief in empowering women through real power, ie money, and doing it in a grassroots-way, effecting millions of people across the world, makes him a truly inspirational leader!
  • Richard Branson
I've been a fan of Richard Branson and Virgin for a long time. Branson was one of the first entrepreneurs who showed that doing business could be fun, and whose rebelliousness always has appealed to me. His new focus on sustainability and creating 'The Elders' shows that he's evolved also into a leader of human growth.
